5 Best Phones if You Want To Play Punishing: Gray Raven

Buying Guides Smartphones August 9, 2023 by Sid Natividad

Punishing: Gray Raven is one of the more underrated competitors of Genshin Impact in the gacha game genre. It too is an anime video game with a heavier focus on action combat rather than exploration and other RPG elements. So in order to play Punishing: Gray Raven optimally, you’d want some competitive phones.

Thankfully, a lot of Android smartphones have sacrificed a few other expensive specifications in order to have a more robust chipset. The most obvious compromise is the camera, but if you’re only concerned about playing mobile games on your phone, or if you want to play Punishing: Gray Raven without a hitch, then they’re more than adequate.

The following phones will allow you to play Punishing: Gray Raven and just about any mobile game with maxed-out graphics for three to five years (until you need to turn down some settings for newer titles).

For the perfect balance of price and gaming performance, the Poco F4 GT is simply too hard to beat. It managed to cram in a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 into a budget price point (sub-$400). This is as good as it gets for Punishing: Gray Raven.

You can forget about the camera though as Xiaomi’s Poco lineup has terrible cameras with some questionable post-processing. However, for gaming, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another cheaper phone with better performance.

Speaking of pure gaming, your best option would be Asus for that raw gaming power. Their latest ROG Phone 7 sports a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is the newest and the current best gaming mobile GPU in the Android space.

More importantly, this phone comes with a 165Hz display, meaning it could allow for a smoother and higher framerate (as long as the game’s coding can keep up with it). This will increase power consumption, but the 6000 mAh battery is there to offset that demand.

Mid-range options are good if you want something with fewer compromises in other features, such as camera, RAM, or storage. Sure enough, this mid-range Xiaomi Redmi K50 Gaming phone is quite a powerhouse with 12GB of RAM.

It even comes with a slow-motion video capture feature with up to 120 FPS for 1080p. As proof enough of its gaming capacity, it has actual, physical triggers on the sides which you can map to a game’s controls in order to gain an advantage.

It might be the budget option, but that doesn’t mean it’s a slouch. The Xiaomi Poco X4 GT comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 which is equal to the Snapdragon 888 in terms of performance. Both are just one generation behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Rest assured, this phone can run Punishing: Gray Raven on maxed-out graphics with no worries. It might get a bit hot if you run it on 60 FPS, however, but that’s easy to alleviate. For the price, this is quite a steal as a gaming phone.
