5 Best RTX 4080 Gaming Laptops

Buying Guides Gaming Laptop March 13, 2023 by Sid Natividad

The RTX 4080 might have been overshadowed by the RTX 4090, but those who don’t really mind playing games below 4K at triple-digit framerates will find it more than adequate. It’s also a great option for those looking for something high-end while keeping the budget under control, and thankfully RTX 4080 gaming laptops aren’t too absurd with their prices.

They’re still expensive high-end devices, of course, but the price-to-performance ratio is certainly more favorable for them.

And while sales for RTX 4080 gaming laptops are still scarce and almost nonexistent since they just got released, these following deals might just convince you to bite the bullet and splurge a bit for that sleek and sharp mobile gaming device.

PROS

  • An i9 CPU at this price point
  • Generous DDR5 RAM amount
  • Good RGB lighting
  • QHD display with 240 Hz refresh rate
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Sturdy and sleek design

Specs:

  • CPU / Processor: Intel Core i9-13900HX
  • GPU / Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 with 12 GB GDDR6 VRAM
  • RAM / Memory: 32 GB – 5600 MHz DDR5
  • Storage: 1 TB NVMe SSD
  • Display: 16″ 2560 x 1600 240 Hz IPS

When it comes to a good balance of price, specs, and features, the Lenovo Legion Pro 7 (RTX 4080 variant) is hard to beat. There’s also the fact that the Lenovo Legion lineup is famed for its default max-wattage mobile GPU configuration, meaning there’s little to no compromise in mobile GPU performance.

The other hardware components are also promising. A QHD 16:10 display with a 240 Hz refresh rate is quite a golden combination. At this price, though, don’t expect anything fancy like a mini-LED display with dual-refresh rates. That kind of luxury would drive the price much higher.

Specs:

  • CPU / Processor: Intel Core i9-13980HX
  • GPU / Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 with 12 GB GDDR6 VRAM
  • RAM / Memory: 64GB DDR5
  • Storage: 2TB NVMe SSD
  • Display: 17.3″ QHD+ 240Hz

If you value the CPU more than the GPU (though you might also want a powerful GPU), then the MSI Raider GE78 HX is the ideal device for your needs. It has the top-of-the-line Intel CPU right now (for laptops), making it perfect for video editors and other multimedia professionals.

This robust CPU is then paired with a huge portion of 64GB RAM which is more than overkill so you can expect it to last some long years before it starts chugging to contemporary standards. Sadly, the screen is a bit disappointing for the price considering how it’s only an IPS display though the QHD resolution and the refresh rate can make up for that.

Specs:

  • CPU / Processor: Intel Core i9-13950HX
  • GPU / Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 with 12 GB GDDR6 VRAM
  • RAM / Memory: 32GB
  • Storage: 1TB SSD
  • Display: 16″ QHD+ 240Hz

It’s hard to avert your eyes from Razer products, and just as how Apple products have become jewelry items, so too did Razer for the Windows market. Razer products are often a stylish marriage of aesthetics and power and their Razer Blade 16 is the culmination of their efforts past.

Do note that there’s also an RTX 4090 version of this and the specs are comparable. However, this product is more affordable. This version also comes with an IPS-only display and doesn’t have that fancy mini-LED tech (for better color and deeper blacks) if that’s important.

Specs:

  • CPU / Processor: Intel Core i9-13980HX
  • GPU / Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 (12GB GDDR6)
  • RAM / Memory: 32GB DDR5
  • Storage: 1TB SSD
  • Display: 16″ 2560 x 1600 240 Hz Mini-LED Display

Mini-LED technology is yet another new technology for screens and it’s considered a superior option compared to OLED which is already an impressive display. It’s currently making its appearance in the latest generation of high-end gaming laptops and it would be a shame for you to miss it. So here’s an RTX 4080 gaming laptop with a mini-LED display.

It’s an Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 and Asus is known for upholding a venerable standard for its gaming devices. This model is no exception, especially if you consider the screen. The CPU is also the best of the best and the only thing that could beat it is an RTX 4090 or a 4K display.

Gigabyte Aorus 17H

Best Budget Option

PROS

  • 17-inch screen
  • Reasonable pricing
  • RTX 4080 at this price point
  • Thin bezels
  • 360 Hz refresh rate, perfect for e-sports

CONS

Specs:

  • CPU / Processor: Intel Core i7-13700H
  • GPU / Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 (12GB GDDR6)
  • RAM / Memory: 16GB DDR5
  • Storage: 1TB SSD
  • Display: 17.3″ Thin Bezel FHD 1920×1080 360Hz Display

It’s as budget as that segment allows while still sporting an RTX 4080, so there were some notable compromises to be had with the Gigabyte Aorus 17H. While it might be a flagship product for Gigabyte, it only comes with an i7 whereas most RTX 4080 gaming laptops have an i9.

Moreover, the RAM is a bit lacking which can get inadequate for some recent heavy games like Forespoken, Returnal, or Hogwarts Legacy. Still, if raw gaming performance is what you’re after, then this budget option would suffice, perhaps more.
